Great to see the webiste.I hope it well prosper to great things 6(^)6

My Grandfather (Alexander Stewart jnr)and his family moved from Leadhills to Blantyre around 1910.

I am doing my family tree and would love to find more information about the family to create a deeper understanding of their life there.

My Greatgreatgrandfather was George Stewart a baker from Sorn. He married Jean Brown who became a grocer.

Could anyone help?

Keep up the good work. 6(^)6

I am trying to find out if any of my family line of Jardine are buried in Leadhills, and wonder if anyone has listed the headstones in the cemetery.

Has news reached you that the National Gallery of Scotland has acquired this year David Allan's hugely important set of four little oils showing the stages of lead processing at Leadhills 1780s? Now on display at the Gallery. Images are available on application to the National Galleries Picture Library

I am really interested in the History of Leadhills. Not just the people but the way of life and how they managed. They did not have the Leadhills Jam Factory but I am sure they were able to grow some of the berries. It would be interesting to have some of the old recipes. If anyone has some could they send them to me and we will put them together with the history of the village.

I was fortunate to visit Leadhills twice, and enjoy the wonderful hospitality, particularly at the Scots Mining House where my g-g-grandfather lived in the 1800s. The ladies at the library were wonderful, showing us documents of his life there. I hope to return and enjoy the jam.

As a former villager it's fantastic to see something great happening in the village. I was back in the village July 07 but did not see any of the jam in the shops. Maybe next time.
